We are currently working on our 2014 Annual Jack Issue. The deadline for advertising is January 2.
We are going to do something a little different this year. Everyone who advertises in the Jack Issue will be included in our online jack directory. This will include a photo, information on your jack, and a link to your website or Facebook page. It will be featured on our home page, accessible through a link. We get a lot of web traffic, and this will be a great way to get exposure for your jack. Plus - it's free! (with the purchase of an ad, of course). We will also link to it on our Facebook page. The directory will remain online for no addition charge for six months.
Please call the office if you have any questions! (573)646-3934
We are happy to get started on your ad now. The earlier you get your information to us, the more time we have to work on it, which means the prettier it will look!

"Build a Braver Mule" Clinic
My dad (Loren Basham, PairADice Mules, Belle, Mo.) gave a clinic at TCross Farm (Tim and Sheila Cross) in St. James, Mo., this weekend. I think it was very informative for those who attended. It was a nice reminder of the things dad has been preaching at me for years, too. Maggie did really well.

2013 NCCR Photos
There must be something funky in the air, because I can't get my videos from Youtube to load on my website OR get my photos to load to an album on Facebook. So, until I get this all figured out, I put the videos on here (see post below) and made a slideshow for my photos. I don't think I have ever had this problem before, so I am just going to go about my business and use these pages as placeholders in my web design and hope that tomorrow morning everything will be back to normal.

New Webstore! And A Free Book!
For the past week, I have been working feverishly (haha, yeah right) on our new webstore. We upgraded to a ecommerce site that is just in general a lot nicer than anything I had the capacity to do on our website. So far, I love it. I am still tweaking the design, and can get a little fancier as time goes on and I get more comfortable with it. But for the time being it looks great and is super functional.
Now, we are just waiting (anxiously!) for our first order. I am worried that because we were having so many problems with the Paypal site before (huhuhm, you should stop switching code for no darn reason, Paypal. It's really frustrating) that we might have lost some sales or maybe discouraged other from placing orders.
So, if you have been waiting for a good time to order something from mulesandmore.com, do it now! We would be so happy and to share our excitement, we will include a FREE Mule Poems book with your purchase! It won't show up in your cart - you just need to write "NEW STORE" in the comment section on checkout. This offer is good on orders placed from now to Monday, August 26. So...get shopping!
We are gearing up for the National Championship Chuckwagon Races in Clinton, Arkansas, next week. Part of our group will be down on Saturday, and the rest will trickle in throughout the rest of the week. Come look us up and say hello! We are looking forward to it!

Shelbyville 2013
We are back from the Great Celebration! It was great to get to visit with all the subscribers there! Camri placed fourth in 10 and under barrels and fifth in 10 and under walk trot. I placed fifth in both of my jumping classes (hunter hack and open working hunter). Cole placed in several of the gymkhana classes, and was very happy with how his younger mule Betty and older mule BB did. I came home with a list of things to work on, but am overall very happy with how Maggie and Hoosier performed.
Camri had a great time. She would sit and watch the classes for hours if we let her. She learned a lot about showing this weekend, and decided she really liked the walk/trot class. She also loved the shopping! I think she visited every booth numerous times, but frequented Jackson's Western Store the most, and came home with quite a few purchases from there (earrings, stuffed animals...). She also made friends with the beagles down the isle from the Mules and More booth and was sad to have to tell them goodbye.
We are now working on our September issue, deadline August 1. We are also getting ready for the Columbia, Mo., mule show during their fair (July 28 at 5 p.m.). It is the same time as our fair here in Owensville, and Camri is very excited about that week!

I'm A Terrible Blogger.
As the title of this post, I am terrible at this blogging thing. I tend to do pretty well during the winter/colder months, but as soon as it is nice out side, I typically stop thinking about it. I will attempt to keep up better (uh huh, sure).
Summer update: Acro is finished (Cam went undefeated in both events all season!), we are in the middle of tball, and the kids have been spending afternoons at the pool. Now that the weather has calmed down, we should be able to spend more time in the saddle, too. I rode Wednesday, and Maggie made it clear she does not like summer. She was a sweaty mess about 10 minutes into the ride, but boy do you feel accomplished when you get back to the barn and they are soaking wet! I guess it might be time to get up early and ride now that the sun has decided to come out for a while.
Another neat thing: Jake and Kay Clark are livestreaming the Mule Days events. Camri and I just watched Jiggs, Tim, dad, Wesley, and the other guys and gals there go through the trail course in real team. So neat! Here is the link: http://new.livestream.com/accounts/3228209/jakeclarksmuledays
Mom is also Instagramming her trip, it's been nice to keep up with them that way. Good luck to everyone at the sale on Sunday!

We are finished with our July issue, and are working on our August issue now. Deadline is July 1. It should contain our Jake Clark Mule Days coverage.

July Deadline - June 3
Joe, looking handsome as usual
We are currently working on our July issue. The deadline is next Wednesday, June 3.
I have really enjoyed looking at the Bishop photos from this year! I hope to make it out there within the next couple of years. I am not sure whether our staff writers from out west will get their stories in for this issue or next, but I am looking forward to hearing the stories from this year.
I hope you are all getting in some riding time! I got to ride a few times over the weekend. Maggie is really working well, I just need to find some place to take her for a little show ring time.

Mother's Day Weekend
What a wonderful weekend! We had the Cuba Mule Show on Saturday and our annual Mother's Day trail ride on Sunday. Lots of time spent in the saddle with family and friends!

WOD 5/7
We pushed Chris' vehicle for almost a mile. It took 18 minutes. Every second was terrible. Is it good for your body to breathe in exhaust fumes?

Crossfit (and a pretty sunset)
4/30
Tire flips, deep squat holds, planks, and v-sits in a relay with the rest of the girls. I don't know how long it took us but it felt like 49 hours.

Last night's sunset was beautiful!

April 20
This morning was the Owensville Springfest 5K/10K. I ran a 10K and pr'd on my time, which is great, but I got lost so my official time is longer, because I basically ran another mile trying to get back to the park and finish line.
The race benefited the Wounded Warriors, so it went to a great cause and they raised about $800. It was a good morning all around, and I wasn't too upset about getting lost (once I made it back to the park!).
I guess I am an insane person, because I also went to my Crossfit class after lunch. The gym we usually use was closed, so we had to use the parking lot. We individually flipped a gigantic tractor tire 50 times, and I finished on 6:30-ish.
I think I will take the day off tomorrow ;)
Here is a cute picture of my sorrel team (lol). I ponied Hoosier off of Maggie yesterday. It was a little comical at first, but they figured it out. I know, Hoosier needs a haircut.

Crossfit
So, I have been doing a crossfit class at my gym the last two weeks. I keep meaning to write down what we have been doing and how long it takes me, but I have no short-term memory so it hasn't gotten done yet. But, I just remembered, so I thought I would just put it here!
4/9/13
50 burpees
40 kettle bell swings
30 knees to chest
20 one leg squats
10 pull ups
x 1 round
time 12-something minutes
4/11/13 - I can't really remember what we did. I was extremely sore and I think my brain has blocked this night from my memory.
10 floor sweepers
power clean
bar bell press
time 20-something minutes
4/16/13
100-foot walking lunges
50 squats
25 back extentions
x 3 rounds
time 19-something minutes
Today is the first morning after a class that I haven't been so sore I cried getting out of bed (I am joking, kinda). I have a 10K on Saturday, so I am hoping my legs stay good.
